Description
Winter is really my fav time of year when it comes to painting. I just love the imagery and colours associated with it. Hard not to love those cute little chickadees. Who were very impatient today when I was cleaing and refilling the feeders. They sure can be pushy for such little birds

That wing study must've taken you forever!! I've tried to do wings that detailed but they always look too childish. I like that you've gone for shorter, thicker wings and feathers, it gives a solid feeling to the character. I thank you for makeing your angle look HEALTHY! I'm all for slim and delicate but it's used so much now and doesn't really suit winter, in my oppinion. Winter is when things get tough and surving is a challenge so anything that represents winter should look like it can give you a heafty smack. They can look graceful but they need to look strong.
The birds are lovely and I like that you've gone for small birds found in gardens rather than those bird who are found in the snow. It's good to remember that alot of birds don't just vannish when the weather gets chilly.
I love the use of pinecones rather than holly or miseltoe, it looks alot closer to the natural world rather than the mass market. Lovely image.
