Artist's Comments

Baast, lingers in the Avenue of Sphinxs at Karnak. Like the other Gods series paintings everything in the painting is based on real objects. Her staff though is not really a staff but is based on an old makeup palette, much blown up. I just thought it made a better staff. 33x24 acrylic on illustration board. Prints available. Original available.

Hey Deviant...
Your awesome, and it's been recognised, I'm =yuppy64, and I run a project over at =Deviant-Underground to promote underappreciated artists, and share their art with our watchers, each day three pieces are featured in the club journal, and the same journal posted to all the daily members, who post the same journal in their journals, each saturday the 5 favourite deviations from that week are posted again, and that journal sent to a different list of members, then those deviations are put into a poll, and by the next week, the deviation with the most votes is submitted to the clubs gallery with comments disabled and a link to the orignal. so eventually, when the project gets bigger, then that should have a huge effect on the featured deviations comments and favourites...

Anyway, today your piece was featured at [link]
Enjoy the little bit of attention.

Ways you can help out...
:bulletred:Suggest a deviation to be featured (not yours and less then 15 favourites) by noting =yuppy64 with the link.
:bulletred:Promote us in your journal or signature.
:bulletred:Join us! Check here to see how it all works.

Thanks again.

Ah, Baast, one of my favourites from the Egyptian mythology. Good job bringing her to life. The details make me want to run my hands through her fur  The sky adds an effective perspective line to the frontal view.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is that the right hand holding the staff looks more like an empty fist as opposed to a hand wrapped around a handle. Of course, that could just be an illusion due to the size of the image and Internet resolution.

Nice work overall, and a :+fav: for sure :peace:

Great, result with cat features, much better here than on Sekhmet. Baast looks so natural
Beautiful sky and details :)

Now, any chances to see Hathor? It used to be my net nick since the begining... Changed now, so many Hathors everywhere ;)
Although I would like to see her rather in human form than the wild cat of revange. (As I remember sha changes into wild cat..).
