Artist's Comments

Inspired by two rather disparate influences. I had a table at a local (Toronto) Lord of the Rings con and wanted to do an elf painting. I also had a pile of photos I'd taken at Highgate cemetary in London, England. This place is incredibly overgrown with amazing entwined vines and lush green growth. I'd been wanting to use some of those photos in a painting. Some how the idea for these two lovers grew out of those photos. This picture went a long way to getting me over my fear of painting greens. It was that or expire:)

As an interesting side note. A buyer purchased the original of this as a wedding gift and got me to send it to the couple with no indication of who it came from. Wow, that's some friend!

This is so beautiful.. The emotion between them is so tangible. I love the background and the doves. What a gorgeous peice.. damn I wish I could paint like that

Hope you don't fear painting greens anymore, entwined wines are great, subtle in the shadow :) Beautiful scene, symbolic again.
The male elf has got fantastic clothes :thumbsup:

The detail in this is amazing, I really love it. The whole piece is just gorgeous, you can see the tenderness between them. Very excellent!
