Artist's Comments

Yhis acrylic painting was done in a glazing method. The whole painting was originally rendered with black, white and raw umber. Then I glazed in the colours with very thin layers of colour. It gives it a nice antique look to my eye. This was done as my version of Tolkien's Legolas, done long before the movies came out. I'm very fond of painting pretty, fantasy men:)

Wow! This is really beautiful! I love the shading and the hair. The folds on the clothing are wonderful! Great work!

Wow......reminds me of someone I know. I recently compared him to 'Herne the Hunter'. Don't know if you're familiar with the legend......but Herne has antlers.:eyes:

It looks lovely! I like your style I bet you dedicated hours and hours on this and it was worth every minute!
And it's a relief to see an original, personal concept for a Tolkien character... after those films (I like 'em, don't get me wrong) the charakters seem to be defined by jacksons versions and nobody is willing or able to stray from it do their own one. (I realize this was done before, just wanted to say it)

Animals, fantasy, people; you can draw anything and make it look beautiful. What an amazing talent.

Funny you should mention the movies. I had prints of this painting for sale at my booth at a Lord of the Rings con and at least ten people's reponse to it was "That doesn't look like Legolas!" Oh vey!

Amazing work. That glazing technique really makes the colours look wonderful.
